Tonight's Story

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had a gentle heart — not just for people, but for every living creature. He taught his companions that animals have feelings too, and that being kind to them is part of our faith.

One day, the Prophet ﷺ told a story about a man who was walking on a very hot day. The man was so thirsty that he climbed down into a well and drank the cool water. When he climbed back out, he saw a dog panting in the heat, licking the dry ground, desperate for water.

The man felt sorry for the dog. He climbed back down into the well, filled his shoe with water, and carried it up carefully to the thirsty dog. The dog drank and drank. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah was so pleased with this man that He forgave all his sins."

The companions were amazed. "Ya Rasulallah, do we get rewarded for being kind to animals?" The Prophet ﷺ smiled and said: "There is a reward for kindness to every living thing."

Once, some companions took baby birds from a nest. When the mother bird came back and found her babies gone, she began circling overhead, crying and flapping her wings. She was so upset, she wouldn't stop.

The Prophet ﷺ saw this and asked: "Who has upset this mother by taking her babies? Put them back." The moment the baby birds were returned, the mother bird settled down peacefully. The Prophet ﷺ showed us that every creature — even a tiny bird — has feelings, and we must never cause them pain.

Dua of the Night: SubhanAllah — Glory Be to Allah

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi

"Glory be to Allah and praise Him"

When we see animals — a bird singing, a cat sleeping, a fish swimming — we can say SubhanAllah to thank Allah for creating such wonderful creatures. The Prophet ﷺ saw beauty in all of Allah's creation.
