Ramadan Night 14 of 30

🌴 Maryam and the Date Palm

Theme: trust • Free Islamic story for kids ages 5-10

Tonight's Story

Every iftar, we reach for dates — sweet, soft, and full of energy. But did you know that Allah Himself sent dates down from a tree for one of the most special women who ever lived? Her name was Maryam, and Allah loved her so much.

One day, Allah gave Maryam the most amazing news. She would have a baby boy — a prophet named Isa. This baby was a miracle from Allah. No one had ever heard of anything like it before.

When it was almost time for the baby to come, Maryam went to a quiet place far from everyone. She was all alone, tired, and afraid. "How will I do this by myself?" she worried.

She sat under a dry, old palm tree and felt like she had no strength left. But then, a voice called out to her: "Do not be sad! Allah has placed a stream of water right beneath you."

"Shake the trunk of the palm tree," the voice said. Maryam reached up and shook the tree — and fresh, ripe dates came tumbling down! Allah gave her cool water to drink and sweet dates to eat. He took care of everything.

Even when Maryam felt all alone, she was never truly alone. Allah was always watching over her, always caring for her. And every time we eat a date at iftar, we can remember — Allah always provides for those who trust Him.

Dua of the Night: Dua of Prophet Yunus

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

La ilaha illa anta subhanaka

"There is no god but You. Glory be to You."

This powerful dua was said by Prophet Yunus when he was all alone inside a whale in the deep, dark ocean. Just like Maryam, he felt scared and alone — but Allah heard him and rescued him. Whenever we feel worried or alone, we can say this dua and know that Allah hears us too.
