Tonight's Story

Did you know that one of the most important moments in all of Islamic history happened during Ramadan? It was the day the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ returned to Makkah — the city that had hurt him, chased him away, and fought against him for years.

When the Prophet ﷺ first told the people of Makkah about Islam, many of them refused to listen. They made fun of him. They threw things at him. They hurt his family and his friends. Eventually, they forced him to leave his own home and move to Madinah.

Years went by. The Muslims grew stronger. And finally, the Prophet ﷺ returned to Makkah with thousands of followers. The people of Makkah were terrified. They had been so cruel. What would he do to them now that he had the power?

The Prophet ﷺ entered Makkah with his head bowed — not in anger, but in gratitude to Allah. He didn't come to punish. He didn't come for revenge. He came in peace.

He gathered the people of Makkah and asked them: "What do you think I will do with you?" They said: "You are a generous brother, the son of a generous brother." And the Prophet ﷺ said words that changed everything: "Go. You are free."

He forgave them. All of them. The people who had thrown stones at him. The people who had mocked him. The people who had driven him from his home. He let it all go. This was the strongest moment in the Prophet's life — not because he won a battle, but because he chose mercy. During Ramadan. In front of the whole world.

Dua of the Night: Dua for Forgiveness

رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

Rabbighfir warham wa anta khayrur-rahimeen

"My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of those who show mercy"

This dua from the Quran asks Allah for both forgiveness and mercy. The Prophet ﷺ showed us that real strength is choosing to forgive. During these last nights of Ramadan, we ask Allah to forgive us — and we try to forgive others too.
