The Night Of Mi'raj

The Story

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ had been through the saddest year of his life. He had lost the people he loved most. His own city had turned against him. He was tired. He was sad. His heart was heavy. He didn't know — not yet — that this night would change everything. The room filled with light. Jibreel was beside him. 'Allah has a gift for you tonight.'

Outside, in the moonlight, the Prophet ﷺ saw it. Pure white. Bright eyes. Faster than anything in this world. Its name was Buraq. Together they left Makkah, racing faster than the wind.

In moments they arrived in the holy city Muslims call Al-Quds — home to Masjid Al-Aqsa. The Prophet ﷺ walked in. And there they were. Many of the prophets — Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, and others — waiting for him. And the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — the last of all the prophets — stepped forward to lead them in prayer.

When the prayer ended, they began to rise. Up through the clouds. Past the stars. Through the seven heavens. In each heaven, a prophet was waiting for him. Yusuf the handsome. Musa, who Allah spoke to. Ibrahim, father of the prophets. Each welcomed him as a brother.

Finally, Allah honored the Prophet ﷺ in a way no one had ever been honored. Allah gave him a gift — the most precious gift ever sent back to earth. A way for Muslims to stop everything — five times every single day — and speak directly to their Lord. From any place. In any language. The gift was Salah.

The Prophet ﷺ returned to Makkah before the sun even rose. The whole journey had taken just part of one night. Every Muslim, in every city, in every language, for the rest of time — uses that gift. Salah. A direct line to Allah. A gift from beyond the stars.

Dua of the Week: Dua for Beautiful Worship

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibaadatik

"O Allah, help me to remember You, thank You, and worship You beautifully."

The Prophet ﷺ taught this dua to a dear companion. It asks Allah for three gifts: remembering Him, thanking Him, and praying to Him beautifully. When we make salah — the gift of Mi'raj — this dua helps our hearts truly connect.

Quran Verse: Surah Al-Isra' 17:1

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا

"Glory to the One who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque — whose surroundings We have blessed — to show him of Our signs."

In one night, the Prophet ﷺ met many of the prophets — Ibrahim, Musa, Isa, Yusuf, and others. If you could meet one prophet and ask them one question, who would it be and what would you ask?

This week, make one salah with extra attention. Before you start, remember: this prayer is a gift the Prophet ﷺ brought back just for you. Take your time. Read one surah slowly. Imagine the moment that gift was given.
