The Little Bird Who Spoke Up

The Story

Long ago, Allah gave Prophet Sulaiman (AS) an amazing kingdom.

He was a king and a prophet, and Allah blessed him with great wisdom.

Allah taught him the language of the birds and placed the wind at his service.

Many birds flew in his great army.

One day, Sulaiman (AS) looked over the birds.

Eagles, falcons, and doves stood in their rows.

But one small space was empty.

“Where is the hoopoe?” he wondered.

In that huge gathering, he noticed one little bird was missing.

Soon, the hoopoe came flying back.

“I found something you do not know,” it said.

“I flew far away and found a distant kingdom.”

Sulaiman (AS) listened closely to every word.

“A powerful queen rules there,” said the hoopoe.

“She has a magnificent throne.

But she and her people bow to the sun instead of Allah, the One who made the sun shine.”

The little bird had seen something important, and it was brave enough to speak up.

Sulaiman (AS) did not ignore the hoopoe.

But first, he wanted to know if its news was true.

So he gave the bird a letter to carry to the queen.

Off the hoopoe flew across the sky and delivered it.

The queen opened the letter and read every word.

That letter began a journey that brought the queen all the way to Sulaiman (AS).

There, she saw wonderful signs that made her think deeply.

At last, she believed in Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.

And it all began with one small bird who noticed something important and spoke up. 💛

Dua of the Week: A Dua for Courage to Speak Up

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي

Rabbi-shrah li sadri wa yassir li amri

"My Lord, open my heart for me and make my task easy for me."

A beautiful Qur’an dua for the moments when we need courage and ease to speak up — the very words Prophet Musa (AS) prayed. (Surah Ta-Ha 20:25–26.)

Quran Verse: Surah An-Naml 27:44

رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَانَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

"My Lord, I have wronged myself, and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."

Family Discussion

The hoopoe noticed something important and was brave enough to say it — and Sulaiman (AS) still checked whether it was true. When you hear something surprising, how can you tell if it is really true?
