Musa and the Magicians

The Story

Long ago in Egypt, there lived a proud and powerful ruler called Pharaoh. He treated a group of people very harshly and kept them under his control.

Allah chose Musa (AS) as His prophet and sent him, with his brother Harun (AS), to Pharaoh. Musa told him, “Worship Allah, and let my people go free.”

But Pharaoh refused.

Allah had given Musa (AS) special miracles to show that he was truly His messenger. But Pharaoh called them magic.

So he gathered the most skilled magicians in Egypt. A huge crowd came to watch.

The magicians stepped forward with their ropes and staffs.

The magicians threw down their ropes and staffs. Suddenly, they looked like snakes slithering across the ground.

The crowd stared in amazement. For a moment, Musa (AS) felt afraid.

Then Allah reassured him. “Do not be afraid. You will overcome them.”

Musa (AS) trusted Allah and threw down his staff. By Allah’s command, it became a real serpent.

It swallowed up everything the magicians had made appear.

The magicians stared. They knew every trick of magic. And they knew this was something completely different.

At once, the magicians fell down in worship. “We believe in the Lord of Musa and Harun!”

Pharaoh was furious. But the magicians had seen the truth with their own eyes.

Even Pharaoh’s anger could not make them turn away from Allah.

The magicians came to prove Musa (AS) wrong. But when they saw the truth, they did something brave. They changed their minds.

They chose Allah, even when Pharaoh was angry. Sometimes courage means saying, “I was wrong. Now I know what is right.”

When you know the truth, be brave enough to choose it. 💛

Dua of the Week: A Dua for Courage and Staying True

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabran wa tawaffana muslimin

"Our Lord, pour patience upon us, and let us stay true to You to the very end."

These are the very words the magicians said to Allah when they chose the truth and the king was angry — a dua for courage to stay true.

Quran Verse: Surah Ta-Ha 20:68

قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْأَعْلَىٰ

"We said, “Do not be afraid — it is you who will overcome.”"
