Dawud’s Wonderful Gift

The Story

Prophet Dawud, peace be upon him, was a king, a prophet, and a servant who loved to remember Allah.

Allah had given him a beautiful voice.

And when Dawud praised Allah, something amazing happened.

He was not the only one praising.

Allah had given Dawud a holy book called the Zabur, long before the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Dawud would recite it and praise Allah with his beautiful voice.

As he recited, birds gathered around him.

But they were not just there to listen.

The birds praised Allah with him.

Imagine it.

Prophet Dawud reciting, with birds gathered around him, all glorifying the One who created them.

But the birds were not the biggest surprise.

Something much larger joined in too.

The mountains.

Huge mountains of solid rock.

By Allah’s command, even they praised Him with Dawud.

Allah had given Dawud a gift unlike anything most people would ever hear.

Morning and evening, Dawud praised Allah.

The birds joined him.

The mountains joined him.

And even though Dawud was a powerful king, he kept turning back to the One who had given him everything.

Allah gave Dawud many gifts, and Dawud used them to remember Him.

Allah has given you gifts too.

Maybe you can draw, build, run, help, make people laugh, or tell a great story.

And you have a voice.

Use it to say something beautiful today.

Alhamdulillah.

A little voice praising the same Allah who made the mountains praise Him. 🌙

Dua of the Week: Help Me Remember You

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a‘inni ‘ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ‘ibadatik

"O Allah, help me remember You, thank You, and worship You well."

Dawud used his beautiful voice to remember Allah. This dua asks Allah to help us remember Him and be thankful too.

Quran Verse: Surah Saba 34:10

يَا جِبَالُ أَوِّبِي مَعَهُ وَالطَّيْرَ

"O mountains, echo praises with him, and the birds too."
