Anas Had One Job
Week 15 • Islamic Manners • Madinah
The Story
Anas was a young boy who often helped Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
One day, the Prophet asked him to run an errand.
“I’m not going,” Anas blurted out.
But a moment later, he set off to do it.
On the way, Anas passed some children playing in the street.
Their laughter caught his attention.
He stopped near them, and the errand was left unfinished.
Then Anas felt someone gently get his attention from behind.
Anas turned around.
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was standing there, smiling.
“Unais,” he said warmly, using a loving nickname for Anas. “What happened to that errand?”
There was no angry voice.
Just a kind reminder.
Anas knew exactly what he needed to do.
“I’m going now, Messenger of Allah,” he replied.
No excuses.
No arguing.
He turned back and finished the job.
Anas helped the Prophet ﷺ for many years.
Later, he said the Prophet never spoke to him with irritation or made him feel small.
Even when Anas got something wrong, the Prophet ﷺ corrected him with patience and kindness.
Sometimes we know what we should do, but we pause, complain or get distracted.
The Prophet ﷺ showed us that reminders can be gentle.
Anas showed us that we can always choose what to do next.
When you make a mistake, choose to make it right. 💛
Dua of the Week: A Dua for When We Forget or Make a Mistake
رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
Rabbana la tu'akhidhna in naseena aw akhta'na
"Our Lord, do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake."
This dua comes from the final verse of Surah Al-Baqarah. We can say it when we forget, make a mistake, or need Allah to help us put something right.

Family Discussion
The Prophet ﷺ reminded Anas without shouting or embarrassing him. How can we remind someone kindly when they forget something?
Good Deed Challenge
This week, choose one responsibility you sometimes forget. When someone reminds you, answer honestly, finish it, and thank them for helping you remember.
